Pony Club is about more than ponies and horses--it's about developing character, leadership skills, confidence, and a sense of community. The Sleeping Giant Pony Club was founded in 1974 by Shirley Winer and promotes the education and growth of young riders in a safe environment through a variety of riding disciplines. The organization has expanded from the traditional sport of eventing to include Hunt Seat, Saddle Seat and Western reining as well as a variety of mounted sports such as polocrosse and tetrathlon. Your child doesn't need to own a pony, which is any child's suitable mount. All your child needs is a love of horses and a desire to learn.

The Bethany Lions are members of Lions International, the largest service club organization in the world, focusing on service to the blind, as well as service to the local and global communities in general.
They have been serving Bethany residents since 1952, providing many Bethany students with scholarships each year. They also provide funds for the elderly, the library, the Fire Dept, The Historical Society, Boy Scouts, Little League, and projects at the Veterans Memorial Park. They sponsor the annual Bethany Memorial Day parade and many other community events.
Statewide, they fund CT Lions Eye Research at Yale, Fidelco Guide dogs, and diabetes research.
Globally, they help fund sight initiatives and emergency relief wherever problems arise, many times being the first on the ground.
